Meet Dr. Patel

With a focus on TMD, migraines, facial pain, sleep apnea, and snoring, Dr. Mayoor Patel brings extensive experience and expertise to our center. As a highly qualified dentist in Atlanta, Georgia, he holds degrees, certifications, fellowships, and board certifications in these specialized areas. Dr. Patel not only leads our practice but also actively contributes to advancing treatment options through educational services for fellow dental professionals.

Dr. Mayoor Patel received his dental degree from the University of Tennessee in 1994 and then went on to complete a one-year residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD). He also earned a Masters in Science from Tufts University in 2011. Additionally, Dr. Patel served as an Adjunct Clinical Instructor at the Craniofacial Pain Center at Tufts Dental School from 2011-2014 and presently serves as a Visiting Faculty in the Department of Diagnostic Sciences/Continuing Education at Tufts University.

He also served as Adjunct Clinical Instructor in the Department of Oral Health and Diagnostic Sciences at the Augusta University, College of Dental Medicine in Augusta Georgia (formerly Medical College of Georgia). He is one of five dental professionals in Georgia to be board certified in Dental Sleep Medicine (DABDSM). Additionally, Dr. Patel is one of two Dental Practitioner in the country to be triple-boarded in Craniofacial Pain, Orofacial Pain and Dental Sleep Medicine.

From diagnosis to personalized treatment plans, Dr. Patel is dedicated to restoring the quality of life for each individual we serve.

To remain ahead of his field, Dr. Patel has taken well over 2300 hours of postgraduate education courses in the area of Sleep Medicine, Craniofacial Pain, Sleep Disorders and Orthodontics. Since 2003, he limited his practice solely to the treatment of TMJ Disorders, Headaches, Facial Pain, Sleep Apnea and Snoring. Additionally, Dr. Patel previously served as a board member for the Georgia Association of Sleep Professionals (GASP) and is a founding member—he has been re-elected to serve on the GASP board effective in 2014.

Presently, Dr. Patel serves on the British Society of Dental Sleep Medicine (BSDSM) and is also the co-founder of BenPat Institute. He also served as Director of Clinical Education for Nierman Practice Management from 2015-2020.

Dr. Mayoor Patel also served as secretary of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain (AACP) from 2013-2014, served on the board AACP from 2014-2018, American Board of Craniofacial Dental Sleep Medicine from 2014-2018, American Board of Craniofacial Pain 2014-2019, part-time clinical faculty at Georgia Perimeter College, Department of Dental Hygiene and served on the Advisory Board for their department. From December 2008-July 2014, Dr. Patel served as the Director of the Dental Sleep Medicine Program at Fusion Sleep in Suwanee, Georgia.

Just as Dr. Patel has received continuing education to advance his expertise, he continues to work with other dentists and the medical community and has lectured over 1800 hours locally, nationally and internationally in the area of Craniofacial Pain and Dental Sleep Medicine. He is also the recipient of the honorable Haden-Stack award 2018.
