Meet Dr. Patel

Mayoor Patel, DDS, MS

D.ABDSM, DABOP, DABCP, DABCDSM, DAAPM, RPSGT, FAAOP, FICCMO, FAACP, FAGD

Dr. Mayoor Patel received his dental degree from the University of Tennessee in 1994 and then went on to complete a one-year residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD). He also earned a Masters in Science from Tufts University in 2011. Additionally, Dr. Patel served as an Adjunct Clinical Instructor at the Craniofacial Pain Center at Tufts Dental School from 2011-2014 and presently again.

He also serves as Adjunct Clinical Instructor in the Department of Oral Health and Diagnostic Sciences at the Augusta University, College of Dental Medicine in Augusta Georgia (formerly Medical College of Georgia). He is one of five dental professionals in Georgia to be board certified in Dental Sleep Medicine (DABDSM). Additionally, Dr. Patel is the only Dental Practitioner in the country to be triple-boarded in Craniofacial Pain, Dental Sleep Medicine and a Registered Polysomographic Technologist.

To remain ahead of his field, Dr. Patel has taken well over 1400 hours of postgraduate education courses in the area of Sleep Medicine, Craniofacial Pain, Sleep Disorders and Orthodontics. Since 2003, he limited his practice solely to the treatment of TMJ Disorders, Headaches, Facial Pain, Sleep Apnea and Snoring. Additionally, Dr. Patel previously served as a board member for the Georgia Association of Sleep Professionals (GASP) and is a founding member—he has been re-elected to serve on the GASP board effective in 2014.

Presently, Dr. Patel serves on the American Board of Craniofacial Dental Sleep Medicine (ABCDSM), American Board of Craniofacial Pain (ABCP), American Academy of Craniofacial Pain (AACP) and the British Society of Dental Sleep Medicine (BSDSM). As of September 2014, Dr. Patel has been appointed Director of Clinical Education for Nierman Practice Management.

Dr. Mayoor Patel also served as secretary of the AACP from 2013-2014, part-time clinical faculty at Georgia Perimeter College, Department of Dental Hygiene and served on the Advisory Board for their department. From December 2008-July 2014, Dr. Patel served as the Director of the Dental Sleep Medicine Program at Fusion Sleep in Suwanee, Georgia.

Just as Dr. Patel has received continuing education to advance his expertise, he continues to work with other dentists and the medical community to lecture locally and nationally in the area of Craniofacial Pain and Dental Sleep Medicine.
